How to use AI in your upcoming assignments

Assessment season is upon us and you might be thinking about using AI to get on top of your assignments. But how do you know what’s ok?
AI is a great study buddy, ready to help you out with ideas, personalising your learning experience, and even jazzing up your writing skills. But remember, with great power comes great responsibility!
According to the Uni's guidelines, you need to make sure your use of AI is ethical and in line with assignment guidelines and academic integrity. That means no passing off AI-generated work as your own. Always give credit where credit's due! Our Academic Integrity Policy is pretty clear on this: no submitting AI-generated content without proper permission and acknowledgment, and no pretending that AI-generated work is your own original work.
So, what’s the scoop on using AI without getting into trouble? Here are some resources to help you.
Guidelines for AI Use
First, always check your course and assessment guidelines. Different courses may have different rules about AI use. If you're unsure, ask your course coordinator or tutor. Don’t just assume - when in doubt, reach out!
Next, make sure AI is there to support your learning, not to do the work for you. Your assessments should reflect what you know. AI can help you brainstorm ideas or polish your writing (if permitted in your course), but it shouldn’t replace your own efforts.
Lastly, be transparent about your AI use. If you're allowed to use it, be clear about how it has helped you. Acknowledge AI's contribution to avoid any issues with academic integrity. Remember, presenting AI-generated work as your own isn’t ok and can lead to an Academic Integrity Report.

Real-World Applications and Ethical Considerations
Ever wondered how AI is shaping your studies and future job prospects? It's pretty exciting, but we need to be smart about it. AI can sometimes get things wrong or show bias, so it's super important to double-check what it produces. Always be responsible and upfront about using AI, and make sure you're improving on its results. Being an ethical user of AI is a valuable skill for work and study.
