Nature Review in Physics
Our "Expert Recommendation" has been published in Nature Reviews Physics, aimed at advancing the field of speckle metrology.
In optics, speckle arises when a laser beam scatters, creating a unique granular interference pattern. This pattern holds valuable information about the laser, scatterer, and environment properties, enabling precise measurements with remarkable precision.
Our recommendation focuses on selecting optimal scattering objects for specific measurements and outlines a method to characterise measurement system sensitivity, debunking common misconceptions in the field.
This collaborative effort between University of St Andrews and Centre of Light for Life was authored by Morgan Facchin, Saba Khan, Kishan Dholakia and Graham Bruce.
