Douglas Mawson: Polarities
Presented by the University Library, in collaboration with students enrolled in the University of Adelaide’s Master of Curatorial and Museum Studies course, this exhibition highlights the multifaceted identity, life, and legacy of Sir Douglas Mawson.
Through his many roles - geologist, teacher, family man, and explorer - it celebrates not only his groundbreaking achievements and heroic Antarctic expeditions, but also his enduring passion for geology and his role as an educator whose influence reached generations of students and scientific practice.
Exhibition dates: 7 November 2025 - 6 March 2026*
Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 10 am – 4 pm (excluding public holidays)
