The trip to France is the heir to a long tradition that inspired many artists from far away, who described and depicted these landscapes.

Four international photographers, the Beninese Ishola Akpo, the Brazilian Edu Monteiro, American David Schalliol and Spanish Lourdes Segade, travelled camera in hand a part of the French territory. They offer a singular look on the diversity of French heritage. In their company, the visitor walks along the ramparts of the fortifications and in the castle parks, crosses the most important museums and exhibitions, admire the warheads of the abbeys and the arches of the bridges. Emotional journey. The exhibition is divided into four major chapters:

“From one arch to another... Admiration for permanence and the evolution of a simple architectural form like the arch.”

O seasons O castles... Nostalgia of a very rich history whose castles and fortified cities keep the memory.”

“The imaginary of museums… Astonishment at the variety of places where art is exhibited: palaces and private hotels, former industrial sites and forefront buildings.”

“Metamorphoses… Fascination with places whose magic is revealed by the art of photographers who stage them in an original way.”

35 diptychs make up an admiring and curious panorama, embracing a timeframe from prehistoric times to the present day. Correspondence and oppositions manifest themselves in the choice of colours, shooting angles, framing. In the footsteps of these visitors, the eye is attracted to the variety of sets and sites. All illustrate a story in motion and in perpetual invention, up to recent futuristic architectures. An augmented reality animation proposed by Julie Stephen Chheng and Thomas Pons overlaps the exhibition, bringing a playful and poetic dimension. A virtual character circulates in the photos and transforms.

The work of the photographers is crossed with a graphic project combining real and imaginary spaces and making two modes of expression interact to better discover the places visited.”
