Pausing for positivity with our Wellbeing Warriors

noun 1. A person who is fearless and courageous in support of a cause, issue, etc.
Wellbeing Warrior volunteer is something you might want to include on your resume once you've finished your degree. Volunteering is among the best experiences you can have while studying at university. There are opportunities to grow as a person and broaden your awareness of the world.
The Wellbeing Warriors Program is made possible by a partnership between YouX and the Student Health and Wellbeing team.
Students helping students
Our student volunteers are a warm and fuzzy bunch who give back their time to the University community through planning, promoting, and running health and wellbeing initiatives. You’ve likely seen them spreading positive vibes on campus by hosting awareness-raising events about the importance of health and wellbeing.
Wellbeing Warriors could be event organisers, photographers, hosts, and facilitators who want to enhance their sense of purpose and meaning while sharing their talents and creating connections with others.
Volunteering means you have flexibility with how and when you can give your time. Wellbeing Warriors give at least 10 hours of volunteering per semester for a wellbeing initiative that suits their abilities and interests – a win/win!
They also level up their skills and experience by learning how to manage events, get training in Mental Health First Aid, and develop knowledge and practice about wellbeing issues.
Wellbeing Warrior Jasmine gets a buzz from volunteering, “I have loved being a Wellbeing Warrior for the last year or so.”
“It has enabled me to broaden my experience in and knowledge of student health and wellbeing and I have gained new friendships and skills since being in the program.”
The Wellbeing Warriors program has enabled Josh to grow personally and academically. “I've learned a lot more about myself, how I can take care of myself, and how to talk to people about mental health.”
“The program gives student volunteers exposure to mental health and student wellbeing at a large scale and provides you with opportunities to run events and provide feedback to guide the events which is very satisfying and it helps you feel like you are making a real difference in campus life.”
