Types of programs
🔹 Semester Exchange - study at a partner university while remaining enrolled at, and supported by, the University of Adelaide. Please note 2026 programs are yet to be confirmed.
🔹 Short Programs - take a short academic course at a partner university, or complete a placement, internship, or practical work experience with an overseas host.

Cost and financial assistance
💰 OS-HELP Loan – Eligible Commonwealth-supported students in 2025 can access up to AUD $9,504, with repayments deferred like HELP loans. OS-HELP loan is available to eligible Commonwealth supported students studying overseas.
✈️ Free travel insurance — Provided by the University of Adelaide for registered students going for university business.
🎓 Subsidies and grants — Some programs, like the New Colombo Plan, offer AUD $3,000 towards travel expenses for eligible domestic students.
How to apply
✅ Check your eligibility — Review program requirements on the Study Overseas website to ensure you meet the criteria.
📄 Submit your application — Apply via the Student Mobility Applicant Registration Tool (SMART) before the deadline.
🤝 Get support every step of the way — The University of Adelaide Study Overseas team assists you to submit much of the application on your behalf — an amazing service to take advantage of!
Can I still study overseas with a program not listed on the website?
If you’re interested in a program outside of those listed on the Study Overseas website, you can still register in SMART as 'Self-Reporting Study Abroad'. This allows you to apply for OS-HELP Loan if eligible.
