Enhancing the value of Australian copper resources.
Hub researchers are developing and testing new, cost-effective ways to remove non-target metals from copper concentrates from ores in South Australia and beyond.
The value of Australia's exports of copper concentrates and refined copper was $8.1 billion in 2012 (Australian Mines Atlas).
Australia has the world's 2nd largest economic resources of copper (13%) after Chile (28%) and ahead of Peru (11%), USA (6%) and Mexico (6%).
Yet as a producer, Australia ranks 5th (US Geological Survey). The Hub could significantly improve this ranking.
