Celebrating Dr. Rachelle Kernen: Awarded ARC Early Career Industry Fellowship

Dr. Rachelle Kernen, a member of ISER, has been awarded an ARC Early Career Industry Fellowship to lead a $455,109 project on underground hydrogen storage. Her research focuses on Australia’s ancient salt basins, using advanced modelling and field data to identify safe, scalable storage sites, supporting the nation’s clean energy transition through strong academic–industry collaboration.

Adding hydrogen to the renewable energy mix

Blending hydrogen with natural gas in existing networks is a way of reducing carbon emissions. University of Adelaide researchers have led a series of research projects through the Future Fuels CRC, testing domestic and industrial appliances using various percentages of hydrogen to natural gas ratios.

Innovative Mining Solutions Presented at GRX25

Dr Hossein Ranjbar presented the MOVE project’s software for electric mining truck infrastructure, while Dr Cornelia Wilske and Professor Nigel Spooner demonstrated their Novel Fluorescence (NF) sensor for real-time mineral identification.
