EOAR seminar

This presentation will introduce the GKC framework for analyzing the governance of knowledge resource and discuss how it applies to a few case studies in which privacy is a significant concern, including examples from rare disease research. The GKC framework is adapted from Elinor Ostrom’s IAD framework for studying governance of natural resources.

The GKC’s adaptations account for the special properties of knowledge resources, including the need for incentives to create them and their potential for nonrivalrous uses. The presentation will also discuss parallels between the GKC framework and Helen Nissenbaum’s Contextual Integrity theory of privacy.
