Acting Executive Dean's message

Spanning three campuses, and co-located with major national and global research organisations, the activities of the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology keep our researchers and students at the forefront of developing technologies and the latest discoveries in STEM.
Recently, representatives from the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology joined the University’s Superstars of STEM at Science Meets Parliament in Canberra. This annual event aims to forge deeper connections between federal parliamentarians and those working in science and technology.
In his address, Provost professor John Williams AM noted that the University is also a proud participant in the prestigious STEM Ambassadors program. In this program, born from the 2019 Science meets Parliament event, STEM Ambassadors from all over the nation work alongside federal politicians to highlight the importance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics research in decision and policy making.
During March, the Faculty also hosted the annual Australian Rover Challenge at the Roseworthy campus and launched the new Extraterrestrial Environmental Simulation (EXTERRES) Analogue Facility, a state-of-the-art facility specifically designed to simulate off-earth environments.
This year was another record-setting year for the Rover Challenge with 10 teams competing, and participants from Bangladesh and Poland, as well as around Australia. Congratulations to the 2024 Australian Rover Challenge winners: Projekt Scorpio from Politechnika Wroclawska, Poland.
Faculty of SET-related events are a highlight of the 150th celebrations, acknowledging the pivotal role the Faculty has played throughout the history of the University and will continue to play into Adelaide University.
The Waite 100 Gala on Saturday 4 May will celebrate 100 years of the enduring Waite Gift. Over the past century, the Waite campus has become home to one of the largest concentrations of agricultural and wine research and teaching expertise in the southern hemisphere.
The Faculty’s relationships with industry, our passion for research, and our commitment to ensuring that students receive an exceptional educational experience are hallmarks of our dedication to excellence.
