Casual engagement essentials series
The HR Branch is running a series of education sessions. Attendance is encouraged for timesheet validators, supervisors and hiring managers of casual staff but is open to anyone involved in the casual engagement process. These sessions will provide information about obligations and various strategies to support the casual workforce. More information.
New Colombo Plan External Advisory Group appointment
Professor Jessica Gallagher, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement), has been appointed to the New Colombo Plan External Advisory Group. The University Research Institutes and Centres Policy and University Research Institutes and Centres Procedures were approved by the Vice-Chancellor and President on 4 October 2024. This Policy sets out the principles for initiating, managing and evaluating University Research Institutes and Centres.

Introduction to strategic journal publishing
Guidance on finding journals in different disciplines and assessing journal quality, including rankings and impact factors, and using tools such as Journal Citation Reports, Scopus, and Scimago. Learn how to evaluate predatory journals, assess open access opportunities, and select the best option to maximise the impact of your research. Monday 21 October, 10–11 am. Online.

Understanding predatory publishing
Identifying predatory publishers is important as publishing your work with them can damage your research impact and professional reputation. This workshop will help you to understand how to assess a journal or conference to identify whether it is legitimate, or might be predatory. Monday 28 October, 11 am to 12 pm. Online.
Children’s University Adelaide graduations
