Mental health first aid training 2025

This free two-day workshop is available to staff who are interested in further developing their skills in providing initial support to people who are experiencing mental health difficulties. Improved access to the Barr Smith Library

The Barr Smith Library has a new entrance on Level 1, providing direct access from the Barr Smith Lawns. This entry leads directly into the newly refurbished spaces, created for student collaboration and study.

North Terrace campus caretaker requests

An increase in requests for caretakers to set and reset Union House level 5 function rooms is putting pressure on their ability to complete other tasks. Caretakers may be engaged between 8 am and 3 pm on weekdays if movement of banquet tables and chairs from function rooms 1 and 2 is required. Please submit work requests at least 7 days in advance. Users are responsible for all furniture layout changes in function rooms 3 and 4, and in Rumours on level 6. Further information.

Union House function room guides

New guides for Union House function rooms are available to download. Guides provide essential information on catering, liquor licensing, room setup, security, access, cleaning, AV, and caretaker assistance. Currently, function rooms are only available to staff and students, however bookings will open to external guests later in the year. More information.

Textbooks in course readings lists

Reminder to include required textbooks in the textbook section of your Course Readings list, and to add the ‘Textbook’ tag to required texts only. The Library defines a textbook as a prescribed core reading and is integrated into course curriculum or referred to regularly throughout a course. Further information.

Learn to program: Python for Researchers

Python has become a popular language for scientific computing and among researchers, but getting started can be challenging, especially if you have never programmed before. In this introductory live coding workshop, we will use Jupyter notebooks to write programs and produce results. Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 March. Online. Register.
