Chief Operating Officer's message

Peter Prest

Information technology plays a central role in the transition to Adelaide University. The University’s Information Technology and Digital Services (ITDS) team, with their functional expertise and knowledge of future Adelaide University systems, will contribute significantly to the merger.

As we move forward, the involvement of our ITDS staff is expected to grow, especially during the critical systems delivery phase over the next 18 months.

To ensure the provision of optimal and essential services to University of Adelaide staff and students, the amount of systems development, including non-critical upgrades, will be minimised.

Starting from 1 August 2024, the University of Adelaide will implement an ‘IT change freeze.’ While ensuring continued service levels for the University of Adelaide, this freeze will create capacity to support the IT systems transition to Adelaide University. As part of this freeze, certain non-essential IT services or activities will be paused or scaled back.

Any new IT requests will only be considered when they are deemed essential for:

  • maintaining continuity of University of Adelaide business-critical systems
  • mitigating cyber security risk
  • addressing mandatory compliance requirements.

Requests for other IT changes will not be accepted without explicit approval from the Chief Operating Officer.

Essential ITDS services will continue to be provided, and your day-to-day level of service will not be impacted.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work towards a successful transition to Adelaide University. If you need any further information or assistance, please contact the ITDS team.
