Executive Dean's message

Katrina Falkner

Many of us are contributing our expertise and knowledge to design a new university that is truly prepared for future challenges. It’s been a professional highlight to work alongside talented and committed teams as they develop suites of new courses, write accreditation submissions for new programs, and prepare for 1 January 2026, when Adelaide University will open its doors.

Alongside that important work, our staff continue to provide high quality teaching and research, and contribute excellence to the overall student experience. This duality was particularly evident at the recent Open Days on our North Terrace, Waite and Roseworthy campuses, where our staff and volunteers generated interest about our current courses, and enthusiasm about our future.

Some staff, myself included, have been seconded into roles to support development of the new university. Over the past month, I have had the benefit of being fully back in my substantive role, with Professor David Lewis taking some well-deserved leave from his Acting Executive Dean role. It has been a pleasure to spend more time in the Faculty, and to see the fantastic work that colleagues are all doing.

The Faculty’s relationships with industry, our passion for research, and our commitment to ensuring that students receive an exceptional educational experience are hallmarks of our dedication to excellence. Amidst many recent achievements, the Faculty can be particularly proud of:

The diversity of our activities, and our success, broadly reflects our commitment to innovation, sharing and creating knowledge, and being prepared for the challenges of the future.
