The final straight

So my third year is complete. It seems its time to look back and reflect on what I have achieved and find areas for improvement as I head into fourth year - the final straight.

University isn't just study, study, study and nor should it be! University is about networking, extracurriculars, internships, clubs, scholarships, opportunity and friends!

Last year, I found myself caught up in it all a bit, something which is exhilarating but at times overwhelming. I know that Covid has been a big stress for a lot of people, myself included. It seemed like everytime I took a step forward, Covid was pushing me three steps back again.

I am glad that I decided to undertake an internship. It has given me an opportunity to try out a workplace, volunteer for an important cause and at last has helped me secure a job. I think it has also shown me that doing work for other people is really important to me and my career.

I expanded my social circle last year from close friends to a variety of acquaintances that I never would have expected. I found people in my classes who I could have lunch with from time to time and I met more people passionate about the same things than ever before.

This year, I really want to focus on pushing my GPA up just that little bit. I want to get ready to apply for jobs early and have things tied up and organised so that I can start fresh.

The end is in sight my friends, we just have to sprint down that home stretch - just don't forget to savour every thudding footstep.
