Other Services

  • CAD and Design Services

We offer a complete CAD design service, we can model up your concept from sketches and produce detail drawings of your parts. We use a range of CAD packages including Inventor, Fusion 360 and AutoCAD. We also offer design capabilities utilising mechanical design engineers which can help you figure out what you need and develop a design with you. Part of our design capabilities is we can also help you develop the best and economical design possible allowing you to design the parts yourself.

Contact our 3D Studio Manager to discuss your Design requirements.

  • 3D Scanning

We can scan any existing item and convert it into a 3D model ready for machining or 3D printing.

Contact our 3D Studio Manager to discuss your Scanning and digitizing requirements.

  • Laser & Water Cutting

We have profiling services which we can cut any material with the water jet cutter (1200 x 600) and plastics and wood in the laser cutter (800 x 450). This ideal for prototyping parts and initial concepts of items.

Contact our 3D Studio Manager to discuss your profiling requirements.

  • High Speed Machining

We have capabilities to prototype using High Speed Machining, this is ideal if metal parts are required. This is limited to standard machining methods.

Can machine Aluminium and Steels up to 500 x 300 x 300 in size

Contact our 3D Studio Manager to discuss your machining & prototyping requirements.

  • Lab Testing Facilities

The ThincLab has access to a range of testing facilities which are located across the University of Adelaide campus, which include but not limited to Destructive testing, water flow, wind tunnel and others

Contact our 3D Studio Manager to discuss if you need to get any product tested.
