CHRD Researcher Melissa Middeldorp awarded the Heart Rhythm Society Affiliate Prize

Melissa Middeldorp was awarded the Heart Rhythm Society Affiliate Prize in Denver on 10th May 2013. Melissa’s presented a case series of thyrotoxicosis occurring very late after the cessation of amiodarone. This research highlights the need for long term surveillance of patients who have been treated with amiodarone. Well done Melissa on your outstanding performance at your first (of many) podium presentations.

Young Investigator Award Finalist for Heart Rhythm Society 2013

Centre for Heart Rhythm Disorders’ researcher and clinician, Dr Rajiv Mahajan has been selected as a finalist for this year’s Young Investigator Award at the Heart Rhythm Society. The Heart Rhythm Society conference, to be held in May in Denver, Colorado, is the global premier conference for arrhythmia research and practice. Many researchers from the Centre will be attending and presenting at the conference.

Success at the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Disorders Conference

Centre for Heart Rhythm Disorders researchers were again recognised by their peers, this time at the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Disorders conference held in Taipei, Taiwain, where they won all three awards!

Faculty of Health Sciences Postgraduate Research Conference Poster Prize Winner

Ms Geetanjali Rangnekar was awarded for the work undertaken in the course of her PhD studies, understanding why and how often patients with heart rhythm disorders present to hospital. This study may lead to the development of new interventions for improved care to avoid frequent rehospitalisation.
