Dr Yan Jiao receives Young Tall Poppy Science Award

Dr Yan Jiao

Congratulations to Dr Yan Jiao, who is one of four University of Adelaide researchers, to receive a 2020 Australian Young Tall Poppy Science Award.

Dr Jiao is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials, and an active executive committee member with IMER’s Centre for Energy Technology

Dr Jiao is developing innovative catalyst materials that can convert clean energy resources, such as wind and solar, into transportable fuels, to replace traditional fossil fuels. She is using computer modelling to design more efficient and reliable materials.

“We need to act early to address the dwindling supply of fossil fuels, and the climate change caused by these fuels”, Dr Jiao says.

The Tall Poppy Awards, an initiative of the Australian Institute of Policy and Science, recognises achievement in the sciences and helps to communicate the passion and purpose of Australia’s finest scientists.
