Dr David Lam Awarded Qantas Regional Grant

ISER Affiliate Dr David Lam has recently been awarded a Qantas Regional Grant. The grant aims to support the growth of local economic activity within regional Australia, helping selected participants with financial, flights and marketing support. Dr Lam is a rural doctor, RACGP Australian GP of the Year, and University of Adelaide 2023 Distinguished Alumni Awardee.

This grant has helped Dr Lam to create and deliver face-to-face training workshops based on his successful ‘GP Lyf Hacks’ a free podcast and webpage with resources for doctors, nurses and paramedics across regional South Australia.

Dr Lam’s workshops have been so prosperous that he was recently featured on Channel 7 News to discuss his work. This mainstream media spotlight helps raise awareness about the resilience of rural communities and the vital role of accessible health education.

His workshops are very important in rural areas, providing the health professionals there with advanced skills that are generally reserved for city hospitals. Thanks to his growth and success of his podcast and social media, which was originally indented to deliver virtual training to health professionals, Dr Lam can continue to deliver in person workshops and reach more remote areas.
