AU Sport School Holiday Program

The School Holiday Program by Adelaide University Sport and Fitness offers children aged 5-11 a fun, inclusive experience. Kids will build social skills, physical literacy, and motivation to stay active, trying various popular and unique sports. Monday 30 September to Friday 11 October, 9 am to 5 pm. $70 per day (optional $10 lunch available). Register.

Exiting the consumptogenic system

Alice By Heart

Alice By Heart

Presented by the second year students of Elder Conservatorium Music Theatre. From the Tony and Grammy award-winning creators of Spring Awakening, Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, and co-written by Jessie Nelson, Alice by Heart is a touching musical inspired by Alice’s madcap Adventures in Wonderland. Sustainability spotlight series

Australian Green Investment Index will be presented by Dr. Ivan Indriawan. Bushfire Risk Reduction in Australia presented by Associate Professor Yan Tan. As part of these events, recipients of the Foci and Magnets for Excellence (FAME) Sustainability grants will showcase their projects and their progress to date. Friday 11 October, 12–2 pm. Sports week and VC Cup

Sports week will feature a variety of daily competitions, including ergo row, table tennis, volleyball, and 3x3 basketball, with the week concluding with the cornhole tournament and the prestigious VC Cup 800m relay race. The VC Cup, now in its 16th year, will be a highlight to end the week or activities, as six teams compete for the coveted trophy in an 800m relay around the campus. Monday 14 to Friday 18 October. Fitness Hub showcase day

Adelaide University Sport and Fitness will host a special showcase event to formally unveil the new Fitness Hub at North Terrace campus. FOTL October Lunchtime Discovery Event

Ashley Dennis-Henderson, the winner of the 2023 Hugh Martin Weir Prize, will speak about her research analysing Australian World War I diaries and letters using mathematical and computational techniques. Plants for Space seminar

Mechanosensitive ion channels regulate the impact of microgravity on mammalian cells. Presented by Associate Professor Kate Poole (UNSW). Kate's research is establishing a new model system to investigate the mechanisms by which microgravity disrupts cellular function, by studying non-adherent cells with simple morphologies to further expand our understanding of the molecular underpinnings of cellular adaptations to microgravity. AIST-TMS John F. Elliot lecture

The Green Steel Revolution. Presented by Dr Sara Hornby, steel is a part of all infrastructures, contributing to 7-9% of earth's carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. The green steel revolution aims to capitalise on new perspectives and sharp thinking to foster new ideas and techno-economic solutions, mitigating emissions. Wednesday 16 October, 12–1 pm.
