Parliamentary Joint Committee reconvenes

Building on the staff update from last week, the legal pathway to creating a new university for the future continues to progress. From today, the parliamentary Joint Committee on the Establishment of Adelaide University reconvenes with more public hearings scheduled over the coming days.

Led by the Hon. Dan Cregan (Chair), the Joint Committee will further explore the advancement of a potential new institution in our state through consideration of a wide cross-section of voices and expertise. Most notably, Professor Mary O’Kane AC, who is leading the Australian Universities Accord Panel will be in attendance, along with other representatives from business, government, and ranking and regulatory agencies.

An ‘in-camera’ session with executive leaders from the universities will also take place on Wednesday 6 September, where additional evidence will be provided around the financial investment and the proposed risk management framework for the proposed amalgamation.

As previously stated, the universities wholly support any parliamentary process that advances the passage of legislation, and in the meantime, we will continue our transition planning.  Transcripts of the public hearings are being made available on the State Parliament website.
