Psychology program concept design takes off
The Curriculum domain is making significant progress as it ramps up key priorities.
A tender has been released to secure a new commercial Curriculum Management System to meet the ambitions of the proposed new university with a focus on contemporary advancements, including stackable learning giving students’ greater flexibility and study pathways.
The Curriculum Strategic Advisory Group is meeting every three weeks to share insights and expertise, bringing together Executive Deans, Deans of Programs, Heads of School and key professional staff members involved in planning curriculum design, development, and delivery.
An Accreditation Coordination Panel has also been established to lead engagement with key accreditation bodies. This group, comprised of all Executive Deans, will oversee existing accreditations through the transition period, along with the future accreditation status for programs within the proposed new university.
A foundational activity within the domain is the launch of a program design pilot, which is being undertaken by the Psychology discipline. Building on collective knowledge, colleagues from both universities are exploring and surfacing practical considerations that will inform initial program concept design work. The group are also capturing reflections on key learnings that will help to shape broader development at scale across the full program suite.
In the coming months, five tranches of program teams will be progressively mobilised to complete nine-week program concept design periods. Heads of School and Deans of Programs will be nominating colleagues to form these teams with representation across undergraduate, postgraduate, specialist and accredited programs. Additional subject matter experts from across our institutions will also be engaged throughout the process to contribute and advise on specific elements of future program design.
To date, there has been a real sense of collaboration and culture of innovation, which will support our ongoing success. We are learning as we go (and at pace), and it is exciting to see advancement of the potential new Adelaide University vision within the domain.
