Integrating our systems

We recently hosted a joint virtual town hall, in partnership with Deloitte, to provide an update on the extensive Systems Integration (SI) required for the new Adelaide University. Around 265 IT staff attended from across both universities.

The cross-functional SI Program team walked through what the potential future and its success looks like, which covered:

  • systems ready for day one (the non-negotiables)

  • keeping the universities operational (ensuring business as usual is not forgotten)

  • foundations for transformation (design with future in mind, effective collaboration)

  • market leading digital experiences (for staff and students, admissions)

  • enabling a new contemporary university (successful transition, supporting new curriculum)

  • secure and connected (data for decision-making, protection from global threats).

The group was also briefed on the agreed transition and target state principles, including the prioritisation of the student and staff experience, flexible and scalable architecture, secure by design, industry leading solutions, data as an enterprise enabler, and contemporary IT service delivery. Fundamental elements like program governance and the journey to Day One were also explored.

Rounding out the session was summary of the focus areas for 2023, along with a status update of key activities. In the pipeline, the team are developing a detailed SI Integration Plan aligned to Domains and systems selections, Go to Market capabilities required for mid-2024, along with the establishment of streamlined collaboration, transformation and change tools to support the broader IMO team.

Well over 100 expert staff from the University of Adelaide, University of South Australia and Deloitte have been mobilised to scale up operations as critical work is continued – with more opportunities to come. The team is actively reviewing the major systems while also considering the importance of approximately 400 subsystems and technologies that exist within the institutions to determine the optimal path forward for the new university.

Co-creation update: Pairwise voting now open

Thank you to everyone who has registered for the CreateAU platform as we begin shaping our first statement of Strategic Intent. Pairwise voting launches today for the Co-creation Challenges, so you can jump on and compare the top ideas identified through the 5-star voting phase, which will inform our final results. This will be active until 27 November, along with the Strategic Pillar Challenges which are still open for ideas and conversations.
