Deputy Vice-Chancellor's message
The breadth of talent in learning and teaching that we are so fortunate to have at the University of Adelaide deserves to be nurtured and celebrated. Over the coming weeks, I encourage you to take part in two events that are focussed on growing our strong culture of learning and teaching.
The Empowered Educators series is a new initiative to support the reflective and evidence-based practice needed to make sustainable and impactful enhancements to student learning.
The coming event, on Monday 11 November, is open to all staff and includes a panel of experts in higher education teaching: Professor David Boud (Deakin University), Professor Michael Henderson (Monash University), and Professor Chi Baik (The University of Melbourne). This is an opportunity to engage with key themes that support students with their learning, including belonging, feedback, and developing critical thinking skills.
I encourage you to register and attend what promises to be an insightful discussion.
The future-focused Adelaide University presents an opportunity to redefine and reimagine the teaching and learning experience, and to bring the best forward for future generations of students. The contributions of our dedicated and passionate educators that are driving educational outcomes now as well as innovating for the future will be highlighted at our annual Celebration of Learning and Teaching on Monday 18 November.
I hope you will join me and colleagues from across the University as we acknowledge the valuable contributions made to student learning by both academic and professional staff, and reward the University’s highest achievers in teaching, support of teaching, and supervisory practices.
The contributions of a range of academic and professional staff are integral to achieving our ambitions for the future, and I thank everyone who works so hard to enhance the learning experience of our students.
Professor Jennie Shaw
Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Academic)
