The final full year of the University of Adelaide has been a time of reflection on the past, and preparation for the future. We have celebrated the past through events involving staff, students, community partners and alumni – and we have celebrated locally, nationally and globally, as we farewelled a beloved institution.

Vice-Chancellor's message
We are in the middle of one of my favourite annual events at our University: the Children’s University graduations in Bonython Hall. Over a three week period, more than 3,000 excited young children will visit the North Terrace campus, dressed in their graduation robes and accompanied by their proud families and supporters. This month we will have 12 graduations, and I wish to thank all my colleagues whose contributions to the many aspects of this program make it a reality, and a success.

It was a privilege to recently attend the Reburial of Kaurna Ancestors at Kaurna Wangayarta, Smithfield Memorial Park. The ceremony laid to rest Kaurna ancestors whose remains were taken to the South Australian Museum in the late 1800s and early 20th century. It was a profoundly moving occasion and a powerful reminder of the enduring connection of the Kaurna people to this land.

This lecture is hosted by the Honourable Professor Julia Gillard AC, 27th Prime Minister of Australia, an alum of the University of Adelaide, and a Visiting Honorary Professor here since 2013.
