Animal ethics deadlines
First submission deadlines for Animal Ethics applications to be considered in 2025 are as follows: SET applications are due 7 January 2025 for 30 January 2025 AEC meeting, and HMS applications are due 24 January 2025 for 10 February 2025 AEC meeting. More information.
Diversity and inclusion in teaching workshop
Facilitating success for diverse HDR students: Strategies to encourage and support a diverse HDR cohort. This session will explore some of the issues and workshop approaches to increase inclusivity awareness, support diverse students, and facilitate success for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and supervisors. LabArchives research edition bootcamp
The University Library provides LabArchives electronic research notebooks for documenting your research, and secure collaboration with internal and external partners. This upcoming online, modular bootcamp will help new and experienced users, with introductions to the tool, as well as sessions about integrations, workflows, security and user management. Monday 11 to Friday 15 November, various times. Online.
Diversity and inclusion teaching workshop
Inclusive practice for Diverse Health Conditions: Working with MACA, Reasonable Adjustments, and Disability Support. This workshop will engage with policies and resources available in the University, including the Modified Arrangements for Coursework Assessment and Reasonable Adjustment policies, as well as Disability Support, to provide practical guidance on how we can support a diversity of students. Tuesday 12 November, 2–3.30 pm. Room 323, Hughes building, North Terrace campus. Register.
Facilities open for parents in Union House
A new parenting room has opened on the ground floor of Union House, with change tables, pram storage, two feeding rooms, and a junior toilet. The room is currently open from 9 am to 7 pm on University days via the UniBar. Construction work over the Christmas break will add a new direct entrance to the parenting room and adjacent all-gender, female, and accessible toilets, and will extend the opening hours from 7 am to 7 pm. Final reviews: Planning, Development and Review

International Fellows Award - final round now open
Applications are now being accepted for the final round of the International Fellows Award. There are six Fellowships of up to $20,000 each available, to support globally recognised researchers to visit University campuses for 4 to 8 weeks. Apply now.

Adelaide Research and Scholarship upgrade
Between 5 pm Thursday 7 to 9 am Friday 8 November, Adelaide Research & Scholarship will be upgraded. The AR&S digital repository will have an intuitive look and feel, whilst retaining the same features. Access to AR&S, including deposit of research outputs from Aurora, will be impacted during this time.

Abandoned bikes get a second life
Ever wondered what happens to the dozens of abandoned bikes left on campus each year? Rather than the scrap-heap, many of them end up in Africa or India, as useful transportation for people living in poor and disadvantaged communities. Security Services has facilitated the donation of hundreds of abandoned bikes and other unclaimed items to Container of Hope, a charity that sends shipping containers full of second-hand goods to vulnerable groups around the world.
