Embracing university life

Meet the Student Wellbeing social media/blogger team - Ingrid, Kristen, Cooper and Asirah! This photo was taken at the Stress Less on the Lawns event.

These past few weeks have been so exciting with events run by Student Wellbeing, Adelaide University Union and student clubs. It’s been fantastic meeting new friends and trying out new things.

I went my first two years of university life only really connected with the Law Student's Society. Now in my final year, I’ve involved myself in so much more. It’s bittersweet that my time as an undergrad is ending just as I’m really finding my place at university.

A few week's ago, the student bloggers/social media team (hi there), participated in an Instagram takeover in celebration of Mental Health Awareness month and Stress Less on the Lawns. It was so exciting showcasing the events of the day and getting to know the team (I had so much fun and will hold onto the wholesome memories)!

I also attended the Adelaide University Union’s Presidents Dinner a week or so ago. This was a night which showcased all the work student clubs have been doing throughout the year and was such a nice opportunity to meet fellow students. It was incredible to see the variety of clubs in attendance and the dedication we have for promoting a fun space for students.

I’m writing this while sitting in the Hub looking around at other students. I wonder what they’re studying? I wonder if they've been here for long? There is a sense of regret. I wish I had been more involved in my earlier years. Even now, I wished I had joined other student clubs on campus. But I’m so appreciative that I did eventually get involved – it’s never too late!

The time you spend at university is limited and it’ll go by so quickly. It’s important to embrace university life – whether that’s attending an event that you see on Facebook or introducing yourself to someone new in class.

So, if you’ve just started your university journey, or 10 years in – my advice would be to embrace university life. Grades are important (to some extent), but the memories you make along this journey will always be the highlight.
