Celebrating CET Research Day 2025
ISER was proud to sponsor another fabulous celebration of the research conducted by students, staff and collaborators of the Centre for Energy Technology (CET), at it’s annual CET Research Day held yesterday at the Sanctuary Function Centre, Adelaide Zoo.
International recognition for green ironmaking project
A University of Adelaide-led project which aims to increase the quality of iron ore while reducing emissions has received a Net-Zero Industries Mission Award 2025 announced at COP30. Dr Alfonso Chinnici, A/Prof Woei Saw, Prof Nigel Cook and Prof Gus Nathan have been recognised for their work on 'Innovative Beneficiation Technologies for Green Ironmaking' receiving the National Award Australia in the category of Outstanding Project.

Innovation in Motion: Strengthening Swiss-Australian Collaboration on Clean Energy and Mobility
ISER proudly took part in Innovation in Motion, a celebration of Swiss excellence in clean energy, advanced mobility, and deep technologies. Our Director, Professor Gus Nathan, joined the panel discussion alongside Joanna Kay, The Superpower Institute, and Taylor McKertich, Endress+Hauser, in a session chaired by Dr. Daniel Rossetto, an ISER title holder.

2025 Luxton Memorial Lecture
Alison Reeve, Energy and Climate Change Program Director at the Grattan Institute, will present the 2025 Luxton Memorial Lecture, “From ambition to action: policy to deliver Australia’s net zero ambitions” on Thursday August 21, in the Braggs Lecture Theatre, the University of Adelaide, from 5:00 – 6:30pm.
New technology for cleaner greener steel
Dr Alfonso Chinnici, from the University of Adelaide’s School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering is leading a project through the Heavy Industry Low Carbon Transition (HILT) CRC to increase the quality of Australian iron ore, whilst reducing emissions.
Celebrating Dr. Rachelle Kernen: Awarded ARC Early Career Industry Fellowship
Dr. Rachelle Kernen, a member of ISER, has been awarded an ARC Early Career Industry Fellowship to lead a $455,109 project on underground hydrogen storage. Her research focuses on Australia’s ancient salt basins, using advanced modelling and field data to identify safe, scalable storage sites, supporting the nation’s clean energy transition through strong academic–industry collaboration.
