Professor Michael Goodsite
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Energy Futures), Director, Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources (ISER) and Academic Coordinator, University of Adelaide, Industry Engagement Priority for Energy, Mining and Resources
Michael Evan Goodsite MBA, PhD, FIEAust CPEngEngExec is a Professor of civil and environmental engineering.
He is the inaugural Director of The Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources (ISER) at the University of Adelaide. As such, he reports to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor & Vice-President (Research).
As the inaugural PVC(EF), Michael works to position the University for a leadership role as the State and nation transition to a different energy future, including by leading large-scale funding bids. He helps to co-ordinate relevant University research activities across the Faculties, as well as with strategic external research partners, and represents the University in relation to sustainability and energy futures at all levels of Government and industry. In addition, Professor Goodsite leads the implementation and evolution of the University’s FAME Sustainability Strategy and have, where appropriate, oversight of the University’s sustainability initiatives on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).
He is the Bid Sponsor for the 2022 Australian National CRC Bid 'Copper For Tomorrow' and Bid Sponsor of the 2022 'Scaling Green Hydrogen' CRC Bid (and sponsored the successful 2020 HiLT CRC). He is an expert evaluator & assessor for national and international research programs and universities.

Professor Melissa Nursey-Bray
Deputy Director, Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources (ISER)
Professor Nursey-Bray's current roles are:
- Professor and ARC Future Fellow, Human Geography in the School of Social Sciences, Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics;
- Deputy Director, Institute of Sustainability, Energy and Resources; and
- Coordinator, FAME Sustainability StrategyAs a human geographer, Melissa's discipline is closely concerned with the relationship between people and place. In particular she has a track record of work in (i) Indigenous community governance and resilience, (ii) in community based climate adaptation and more recently, in (iii) urban ecologies.
Professor Nursey-Bray’s appointment as ISER's Deputy Director is of strategic importance for the University and has been established to oversee the FAME Sustainability Research Strategy for the University; to strategically position the Sustainability Experts and Course Portal; to foster transdisciplinary research related to sustainability; to generate research revenue; and to nurture key partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Melissa is a member of the University Research Committee (URC) as the FAME Sustainability coordinator and represents ISER when appropriate.

Dr Ariane Gienger
Research Officer, Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources (ISER)
Dr Ariane Gienger is a research officer at the Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Resources and at the Department of Geography, Environment and Population.
Ariane has completed a PhD in Human Geography. Her research investigates the interconnection of ecological and political crises and their solutions, with a particular focus on the importance of knowledge diversity. She currently supports the implementation of the FAME Sustainability Research Strategy and is involved in research projects in the fields of community-based conservation, climate change adaptation and sustainability education.
