Our Web & Digital Team is responsible for the strategic direction and governance of the University's website.

Our goal is to ensure that the University is delivering a modern, contemporary, user-focused and accessible website, with the provision of clear and accurate information to all website visitors. We administer the content management systems and templates for all University websites, blogs and online applications such as Degree Finder, Staff Directory, and News & Events.

We undertake continuous and wide ranging data analysis, global benchmarking and the review of up-to-date best practice guidelines, to help us align the strategic direction of the University website, with the University’s strategic goals.

Our team of Web & Digital Officers provide specialist advice, guidance, training and support to the University community, to assist in the delivery of high quality website content.

  • How do I go about creating a new website for my area/conference/project?

    All new websites are created by the Web & Digital Team in partnership with the designated site maintainer(s) for the new website.

    Website approval process

    When developing a new website, or re-developing an existing website, user needs rather than organisational structure should be central to the design.

    Consider the following questions to help structure your content:

    • Who is the information for?
    • How will they be looking for it?
    • What will they want to do on the website?

    Once you have a basic idea of your layout, contact the Web & Digital Team to begin the process.

  • What is Drupal, and how is it different to TMS?

    Drupal is a community managed, open source product that is widely used as the back-end for websites worldwide. Drupal's collaborative development means there is a huge number of modules developed by the Drupal community that allow complex websites to be quickly and easily created.

    The University of Adelaide Drupal WCMS platform is a modern content management system that enables responsive mobile-first website development.

    University websites are now being migrated from the existing TMS content management system onto the WCMS platform as the back end website hosting system. This transition will enable the University website to evolve to meet the needs and expectations of users in the changing landscape of the web.

  • I would like website editing training for myself or a new staff member. How do I request training?

    If you have not already completed Drupal or TMS training, you will need to book into an upcoming training session before you can access and edit a University site. 

    You will first need to obtain approval from the site administrator or Head of department, as there are a limited number of editors allowed for each site. Once you have approval, register via the link below for the relevant session, which is mandatory for all training sessions, as there are limited spaces.

    Those who attend a Drupal or TMS website editing training without registering prior, will not be allowed to complete the session.

  • I would like to include a web form on my site, what do I need and what is the process for requesting one?

  • How do I request access to edit a website?

    • If you have had previous web editing training, please contact the Web & Digital Team and let them know which website you need editing access to.
    • If you haven’t had previous web editing training, you will need to book into a training session
      Please note: Access will only be given once the training has been completed

    For most websites, a maximum of 4 people will be granted access to edit the site, for a number of reasons. For more information refer to our access and log in page.

  • How do I request access to edit a blog site?

    • If you have had previous blog training, please contact the Web & Digital Team and let them know which blog you need editing access to.
    • If you haven’t had previous blog training, you will need to you will need to book into a training session 
      Please note: Access will only be given once the training has been completed
