National AAACP Conference awards

Researchers at the Discipline of General Practice were recognised for their research excellence at the 2023 Australasian Association for Academic Primary Care Conference in Melbourne.

Professor Nigel Stocks
Professor Nigel Stocks, Head of School, was awarded the prestigious Charles Bridges-Webb Medal, in recognition of his international-standard contributions to primary care teaching and research. Professor Stocks has collaborated extensively nationally and internationally in research targeting cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, preventive health and quality of life, and quality use of medicines. He is the Director of the Australian Sentinel Practices Network (ASPREN) and chair of the National Prescribing Service Data Governance Committee.

Research Fellow Dr Carla Bernard
At the same conference, Research Fellow Dr Carla Bernardo was awarded the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPRG) Distinguished Paper award for her paper General practice management of physical and psychological trauma resulting from traffic crashes in Australia: a mixed-methods study. This award includes an invitation for Dr Bernardo to present her paper at the 2023 NAPRG Annual Research Conference in San Francisco.
