Giving Day activities
On Thursday 5 September, we’ll be celebrating our second annual Giving Day, both online and on campus.
After an incredible result last year, where we surpassed our $350,000 goal, we’re setting our sights even higher this year. Our goal is to raise over $400,000 to support crucial University initiatives, including student support, research and community programs.
This day is truly special for us, as it highlights the remarkable work happening at our University and provides a chance for our community to contribute to the causes, they care about most—whether it's cancer research or supporting students in need. Every gift, whether it’s $5, $150, or $500, is deeply appreciated and makes a significant impact. Plus, thanks to our matched giving opportunity, donations will be doubled!
Our Giving Day website, featuring 16 different causes, went live last week, and we’re delighted to see some early donations already coming in. Remember, all gifts made through the Giving Day website by midnight on September 5th (or until the funds are exhausted) will be matched, so don’t miss this chance to double the impact of your contribution. I encourage you to explore the 2024 Giving Day causes and find one that resonates with you.
We’d also love for you to join us at one of the activation events below:
- North Terrace Campus – 8.30am to 10am – Coffee and Bagels on the Goodman Lawns for staff and students
- AHMS – 10 to 11am – morning tea for staff and students, supplied by Bean Bar cafe
- North Terrace Campus – 11am to 1pm – Ninja Wall competition (individual and team) – nominate here – as well as Farmer Darcy’s animal zoo on the Barr Smith Lawns
- Roseworthy Campus – 11am to 1pm – Maitidli café – coffee, food, and music
- Waite Campus – 1pm to 4pm – Peter Waite Bocce competition on the Urrbrae House Lawns, plus an acoustic guitarist playing on the balcony of Urrbrae House
This year, thanks to UniSuper, we have some additional opportunities for staff and students to get involved and potentially “win” extra funds for their chosen Giving Day cause. These include:
- The Ninja wall: Registrations are open for the UniSuper Ninja Wall Challenge. We encourage you to enter a team or as an individual for your chance to win $500 for your favourite Giving Day cause. Fear not this is NOT a rock-climbing exercise and all feet will remain firmly on the ground.
- -Vote: Cast your vote for your favourite Giving Day cause by 1pm on Giving Day to go into the draw. The winner, chosen at random, nominates which cause will receive $500 from UniSuper! And the fund that receives the most overall votes from staff will receive an additional $500 from UniSuper.
