Deputy Vice-Chancellor's message

Professor Jennie Shaw

The vibrancy on our campuses is palpable and increasing, and I’m looking forward to welcoming returning students and to seeing many new faces around our grounds. O’Week officially began yesterday, and the range of activities provides an introduction to all that campus life has to offer, along with many opportunities to make connections.

This is such an important time for many students, particularly commencing ones, as it marks their introduction to our University’s student experience.

This week, many staff and volunteers will ensure that our students have opportunities to learn about our services, and the structures we have in place to support their progression and success during their time with us at the University of Adelaide. Thank you to everyone who contributes to this vital week.

I also want to acknowledge our staff who, on 24 February, were announced by Universities Australia as recipients of 2024 Australian Awards for University Teaching.

Congratulations to:

These prestigious national awards recognise the impact that great educators have on the learning and teaching experiences and outcomes of students, and highlight the exceptional quality of education our students can expect from the University of Adelaide, and that they will expect from the new Adelaide University.

Finally, a reminder that everyone is welcome to attend Kaurna Day, Tirkanthi - Ngutu - Taikurrinthi (Learning - Knowledge - Be united together), 7 am – 2.30 pm Monday 3 March. This is our second annual Kaurna Day, with activities at our North Terrace, Waite and Roseworthy campuses and, this year, also at UniSA’s City West campus.

Our beautiful campuses, our talented and dedicated staff, and our diverse and enthusiastic student cohorts all provide a great sense of optimism for a special year ahead.
