Dynamic Balance for Life safe falls course
This is a ten week course starting on 9th May at 10 am at 34 Phillips Street, Thebarton. This course is open to everyone who would like to learn how to defend themselves from falls injuries when they might have lost their balance. Participants will be guided through methods to improve posture and balance and also learn the four key fall techniques to minimise injury when you have a fall. These include: How to prevent injury when falling forward, backward and sideways and how to roll if necessary to minimise harm.
The activities in the program all aimed at improving your posture management, balance and coordination and teaching you the key brace positions required when involved in a fall. The Program is done in conjunction with the University of Adelaide Basil Hertzel Institute which is the research arm of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The program has been developed over 5 Years with Researchers from the Basil Hertzel Institute and Coaches from the Adelaide University Judo Club. It is conducted at the Main training Facility of the Adelaide University Judo Club.
