Fellows nominated for technological innovation

ATSE Fellows

Professor Bronwyn Gillanders, Professor Zaiping Guo and Professor Gus Nathan were announced as 2023 Australian Academy of Technological Sciences (ATSE) Fellows, which the organisation bestows upon researchers whose work demonstrates technological innovation.

2023 AMI Excellence Awards

AMI Awards

The Marketing team won the Content Marketing award at the Australian Marketing Institution’s Excellence Awards, and were also national finalists in awards for Social Media Marketing, Small Budget Marketing, and Brand Revitalisation, as well as the ROI category of the Advertising Council Australia Effie Awards.

Awards for Adelaide Dental School

PhD candidate Sonia Nath and Honours student Vanessa Burns (Adelaide Dental School) both had success in the Colgate Research Awards at the Australia/New Zealand Division of the International Association for Dental Oral and Craniofacial Research annual conference in Sydney last week.

2023 Corporate cup

The DASE Teams ER-ratic and Couch Potatoes Can Only Run Sofa were formed by previous participants of the Corporate Cup and ran a total of 273km across the 5 rounds, improving their overall fitness and partaking in some friendly office competition.

Women in leadership mentoring program

The University is participating in the 4th cohort of the Asia Pacific Women in Leadership Mentoring Program, which officially begins on Monday 6 November. Professor Kerry Wilkinson and Associate Professor Tania Crotti and our two mentors, and Associate Professor Zohra Lassi and Dr Esma Dogramaci are our two mentees.

Free microcredentials for teachers across Australia

Professional and Continuing Education (PACE), together with the School of Education and the Computer Science Education Research Group, has been awarded a $3.3 million contract from the Australian Government to develop and deliver a series of free, online microcredentials for teachers, school staff and school leaders across Australia. Sports Week and the VC Cup

Congratulations to the Division of Academic and Student Engagement, winners of the 2023 Adelaide University Sports Inter-Faculty Sports Shield during Sports Week, held between 11-15 September. The week ended in style with the 15th annual VC Cup 800 metre relay race, won by the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences.

Three Minute Thesis winners

The final of the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition was held on the 12th September, where 10 PhD students from across the University shared their research. Congratulations to the winner: Chelsea Matthews, runner-up: Ashleigh Geiger, and people's choice: Jacqueline Barsby. More information.

Celebrating the Inspiring Achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Graduates

Kaurna Elder Uncle Rod O’Brien, Cultural Advisor; Toni Shearing, MBA; Rigby Downs, MBA; Dr Justine Clark, PhD in Medicine Physiology; Rebecca Hayne, Bachelor of Health and Medical Sciences (Advanced); Christopher Crowe, Bachelor of Psychological Science; Professor Steve Larkin, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Indigenous Engagement)

During the University graduation week, graduates will wear a cultural sash over their graduation gown that identifies their cultural heritage as Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander or both.

English Australia John Gallagher award

Sandra Caon-Parsons

Sandra Caon-Parsons, Education Advisor at the English language Centre was awarded the English Australia John Gallagher award for 2023. English Australia is the national peak body for the English language sector of international education in Australia. The award recognises the outstanding contribution of an individual to the ELICOS sector. More information.
