Abandoned bikes get a second life
Ever wondered what happens to the dozens of abandoned bikes left on campus each year? Rather than the scrap-heap, many of them end up in Africa or India, as useful transportation for people living in poor and disadvantaged communities. Security Services has facilitated the donation of hundreds of abandoned bikes and other unclaimed items to Container of Hope, a charity that sends shipping containers full of second-hand goods to vulnerable groups around the world.

Council News

AI Literacy Framework
The University Library has launched a new AI Literacy Framework to support students to develop critical AI skills. This framework will help students understand AI, apply it appropriately, evaluate AI-generated information, and use AI tools ethically. More information.

The time has come to order your Season's greetings cards. Please complete the form by Friday 8 November to order your cards in time for the holidays. The cards will be sent via internal mail by late November. More information.
Apple Distinguished School status extended to 2027
The University of Adelaide’s School of Education has had its nation-first Apple Distinguished School designation extended to 2027. Not only are we still the only university in Australia to have this title (since 2021) but this extended designation will officially carry through to Adelaide University. More information.

JBI and Australia Awards partner for universal health in the Philippines
JBI, together with Australia Awards, has launched a new Fellowship program aimed at strengthening the health workforce in the Philippines by equipping thirteen mid-career healthcare professionals and researchers with advanced skills in evidence-based clinical decision-making and guideline development. Union House transformation complete
Beautifully refurbished Union House has reopened after a six-year renovation. Lost architectural elements have been restored or reinstated, and cross-building pathways opened up via the network of balconies. Level 4 is a haven for students with lounges, kitchens, study and chill spaces, plus the new Fitness Hub. Level 5 features Taikunthi restaurant overlooking the Cloisters and function rooms for up to 280 people, bookable from 2025. More information.
