Finding clubs stressful

Sitting at a desk

When it comes to keeping myself busy with extra curricular activities, I reach a point when I feel tired and a lack of motivation towards a task.

Whether it be a club, a friend group, a project I’m working on or even a hobby, I find there comes a day when I sit back and think, ‘this isn’t very rewarding for me, in fact I’m finding it quite stressful’.

When I look back on all of my expectations and hard work, it is easy for me to feel resentful rather than simply thinking, ‘things don’t always go as planned’. At first I think, ‘this is a bump in the road, something to push on from’. I find I always tend to keep at something well and truly past the point that I stopped enjoying it. It’s not until recently that I have been rethinking this dilemma not as a question of failure but as an aspect of change. My goals, aspirations, time commitments and friendships all change and with that, so does my love for my hobbies and the extra curricular activities I work on.

One key element I have found between finding something rewarding and tiring is the people around you. Having people who are engaged, interested and have your back really makes a difference and it can make or break my attitude towards something. The next step is stepping away from things that are making me feel tired and unrewarded. I find it is always good to look ahead to something new to reignite my excitement towards extra-curricular activities.
