GEAP Online Remote Learning

Whilst it not be possible to study the GEAP in person in Adelaide at the moment, you can still enrol in our online classes and be assured that you will have an excellent study experience. The ELC ranked number in Australia for student satisfaction in Learning (teaching and curriculum) across all 23 university language centres. Importantly, with the recent move to online remote delivery, the ELC also ranked number in Australia for satisfaction with Virtual learning. 

^2019/2020 i-graduate Australian English Language Barometer which surveyed the satisfaction of over 15,700 students across 36 institutions. 

What should I expect from my GEAP Online classes?

Classes are delivered using online tools, such as Zoom and MyUni. The course content and timetable is the same as usual, with 4 hours tuition per day, 5 days a week. You get the full classroom experience as you talk with and listen to your teachers and interact with classmates. 

To participate in the online remote learning classes, you need access to a computer or device with audio and video capabilities; and reliable internet or data access. Once enrolled, you will be provided with a guide to assist you to activate your University of Adelaide account and gain access to all the University of Adelaide online resources. The guide will also assist you to organise access to MyUni and Zoom, which will be used for classes.

Students who study the GEAP through online remote learning will complete the necessary assignments, tasks and assessments required.  Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive an assessment and completion certificate

  • How is GEAP being delivered during COVID-19?

  • How can I get help if I am having difficulties studying from my home?

  • How can I contact the English Language Centre?

    ELC reception area is currently closed to minimise face-to-face contact. Alternatively, students are encouraged to contact the English Language staff initially via elc@adelaide.edu.au or phone: + 61 8 8313 4777.

  • How is my attendance and academic progress being monitored?

    The English Language Centre will continue to monitor students’ attendance and academic progress throughout the program. Reasonable adjustments to overcome challenges that students’ may experience in connecting into online remote learning will be taken into consideration as compassionate and compelling circumstances.

  • When will the English Language Centre programs recommence face-to-face classes in Adelaide?

    The English Language Centre will continue to monitor the situation and will be looking to return to face-to-face classes, when it is considered safe to do so. This decision will be made in accordance with the advice of the state and national authorities on their response to COVID-19, and the timing of when social distancing rules and travel bans will be lifted.

    Further information will be sent to students as the situation progresses to enable adequate time for students to organise travel to Adelaide to continue their program.
