Thales Australia and University of Adelaide partner to explore long-range counter UAS laser technology

Thales Australia and the University of Adelaide have announced a partnership to develop a unique Laser Directed Energy Weapon (LDEW) aimed at countering battlespace threats, including fast-moving, low-profile Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). IPAS member Professor Miftar Ganija and his team are working on a mobile Counter-UAS solution, utilizing advanced local technologies. Professor Ganija emphasized the importance of transitioning USPL research from the lab to real-world applications, where innovation meets practical impact, particularly in the precision and speed provided by USPL laser sources.
