Global recognition for biomedical innovator
Dr Jiawen Li, a biomedical engineer from the University of Adelaide, has been named in the 2023 global list of Innovators Under 35 by the MIT Technology Review for her work in biomedical engineering. Dr Li is the only recipient of this prestigious global recognition from Australia.

Portable Atomic Clock Team awarded NMI Measurement Impact and People's Choice Awards
The University of Adelaide Portable Atomic Clock Team, represented by Dr Rachel Offer from the University’s Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing, won the NMI Measurement Impact award for measurement-related achievements demonstrating real-world impact. The team won for their world-first deployable, autonomous optical atomic clocks. The team also won the People's Choice award.
ARC Centre of Excellence for Breakthrough Science
IPAS researchers Prof Kishan Dholakia, Prof Andre Luiten, Prof Heike Ebendorff-Heidepriem, Dr Sarah Scholten and Dr Andy Boes, along with Prof David Lancaster at UniSA are thrilled to be part of the $35m ARC Centre of Excellence in Optical Microcombs for Breakthrough Science (COMBS) led by RMIT. The South Australian node will be the largest in the Centre of Excellence.

IPAS Deputy Director won ARC Industry Laureate Fellowship
Congratulations to Prof Heike Ebendorff-Heidepriem for being successfully awarded $3,359,464 ARC Industry Laureate Fellowship. This four-year fellowship will be a valuable opportunity for Heike to collaborate with Flawless Photonics group to develop efficient purification methods for ZBLAN optical fibres.
