Deputy Vice-Chancellor's message

Professor Jennie Shaw

I am thrilled to share that the University of Adelaide is the recipient of Canstar Blue’s Award for Student Satisfaction for South Australia: Most Satisfied Students (SA Universities) 2023.

Canstar Blue surveyed over 2,440 undergraduate and postgraduate students, and graduates from the past decade across Australia, allowing them to rate their university based on factors that matter most to them. The goal was to gauge overall student satisfaction and understand their experiences.

In addition to receiving Canstar Blue’s five-star rating for overall student satisfaction, the University also received five-star ratings for quality of teaching staff, learning resources, and the quality of education provided. This achievement follows our very successful (and, following the COVID-impacted years, much improved) performance in the national 2022 Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) Student Experience Survey, in which we ranked 16th out of 41 universities for the overall quality of the undergraduate student educational experience and sixth nationally for Learner Engagement.

The government endorsed QILT surveys also demonstrated that the University has improved in all focus areas, with students’ rating of the overall experience up from 74.3% in 2021 to 77.6%.

These results reflect our institution's enduring commitment to academic excellence and student engagement. We would like to extend our gratitude to all colleagues for their dedication and hard work, as these achievements would not have been possible without sustained, high quality contributions to our students’ education. Our commitment to providing exceptional education and fostering an engaging learning environment remains unwavering as we aim to further improve our national ranking in these important respects.
