Indoor plants and why we need them

I have recently moved into a new place. I have a new room and a new space, and I am struggling to give it a sense of homeliness. One solution I have is indoor plants! An instant winner that stands out against the grey concrete walls and floor. As soon as I had a couple of pots sitting on my shelf I felt better. More comfortable and at ease.

Apparently, I’m not crazy and that indoor plants actually have mental and physical health benefits (source).

One of the best things these little guys can do is boost your mood, creativity, concentration, and productivity (source). When I have found myself staring at the wall and zoning out, I try to turn my gaze to my little friends and take note of all their little details and colours.

Incorporating indoor plants into your study space just doesn’t help your concentration and mood but also your physical health. Indoor plants act as great air purifiers. They can soak up and remove toxins from the air and provide you with better air quality, something that is important living in a big city (source).

There are no consequences to keeping indoor plants, just a bit of watering and care and the satisfaction from watching them grow. At the moment, I am experimenting with lots of different plants and succulents trying to fill up every available space. If you’re struggling with focusing or sprucing up your living and study areas, I can’t recommend indoor plants enough. Next, I’m planning to have a crack at making some terrariums!
