Mel Ngyuen (School of Agriculture, Food and Wine) is this year's University of Adelaide Visualise Your Thesis winner, impressing the judges with From your kitchen food scraps to your kitchen food wrap. Mel has won $1,000 and the opportunity to participate in the international competition later this year. Read more.
Canstar Blue 2024 Most Satisfied Students Award - SA Universities
The University received 5-stars for 'Overall Student Satisfaction' in the Canstar Blue surveys and is the sole recipient for this award among South Australian universities. Additionally, the university received 5-stars for 'Teaching Staff', 'Quality of education received', 'Learning resources' and 'Campus amenities'. More information.

Australian Research Council's Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA)
Dr Phillipa McCormack, Dr Bing Yan, Dr Daniel Carragher, Dr Jodie Yuwono, Dr Navid Freidoonimehr, Dr Emma Watson, Dr Jinqiang Zhang, Dr Cheryl Suwen Law, Dr Gemeng Liang and Dr Rahil Valani will share in more than $4.5 million through the latest round of the Australian Research Council's Discovery Early Career Researcher Award. Adelaide Education Academy new members
Seven staff members were successful in their application to join the Adelaide Education Academy in the recent round. From the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences: Associate Professor Stacie Attrill, Dr Abdullah Barazanchi, Dr Nicola Eastaff-Leung and Associate Professor Muhammed Yakin. Advance HE Fellows
Ms Laura Airey, Associate Professor Kathryn Boyd, Dr Anna Pearce, Dr Maeghan Toews and Dr Hannah Wu have received the Advance HE Fellowship in recognition of their reflective and effective professional practice in teaching and support of learning. Read more.
Steve Larkin joins ARC Indigenous Forum

Professor Steve Larkin, Pro Vice-Chancellor – Indigenous Engagement, has been appointed as an inaugural member of the ARC Indigenous Forum. The forum is made up of a cross-section of eminent Indigenous members with significant experience in research, as well as engagement with end-users of research.
SPIE Society Director
Professor Kishan Dholakia (School of Biological Sciences) has been elected to the Board of Directors at SPIE, the International Society for Optics and Photonics, serving for a three year term. Read more.
2024 Measurement Awards
Professor Withawat Withayachumnankul and Dr Pei Lay Yap have each received 2024 Measurement Awards. Professor Withayachumnankul received the Barry Inglis Medal for his work supporting the development of terahertz communications and material characterisation applications. Dr Pei Lay Yap received the Measurement Achievement Encouragement Award for her work in the standardisation of graphene characterisation. Read more.
Future Fellows

The Australian Research Council has awarded three University of Adelaide academics more than $3 million funding, as part of the 2024 Future Fellowships scheme. Associate Professor Timothy Legrand (School of Social Sciences) was awarded $1,130,337, Dr Kylie Dunning (Robinson Research Institute) was awarded $1,061,521 and Dr Danny Wilson (School of Biological Sciences) was awarded $1,061,015.
