Hatton Award recipient: Dr Sonia Nath
Dr Sonia Nath from the Adelaide Dental School won the postdoctoral category of the prestigious Hatton Competition at the International Association for Dental Research's conference in New Orleans. The award recognises excellence in oral health research by early career researchers. Sonia's presentation was entitled Super Donor Assessment Tool for Oral Microbiome Transplantation.
Global Partnership Seed Funding recipients

Douglas Mawson Chair in Earth Sciences: Professor Alan Collins
Professor Alan Collins has been appointed as the Douglas Mawson Chair in Earth Sciences. This position was established in 1983 to acknowledge the work of Sir Douglas Mawson, the former Chair of Geology between 1921 and 1952 and highly esteemed Professor of Geology and Mineralogy at the University of Adelaide.

Le Fèvre Medal: Professor Yao Zheng
Professor Yao Zheng (School of Chemical Engineering) has been awarded the Le Fèvre Medal by the Australian Academy of Science for his work on splitting raw sea water without pre-treatment to produce green hydrogen.
Early career award: Dr Jared Dmello
Dr. Jared Dmello (School of social sciences) was recently named the inaugural recipient of the Early Career Award for the Security & Crime Prevention Section of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the only international professional association for the study of criminal justice that has non-profit recognition with the United Nations.
Westpac Scholars to fight disease and support veterans
Harriet Cooling, who is undertaking a PhD in Surgical Specialties, and Taylor Cowell, who is studying an Executive Master of Business Administration, were both selected to receive Future Leaders scholarships. More information.

ARC Mid-Career Industry Fellowship
Professor Kerry Wilkinson (School of Agriculture, Food and Wine) has been awarded $1,141,640 over four years, as part of the Australian Research Council’s Mid-Career Industry Fellowships scheme, to investigate the potential winemaking applications of membrane filtration. More information.

Woman of the Year Awards
Dr Sarah Scholten (Institute for Photonics and Advanced Sensing) was last week named the SA Weekend Innovator of the Year for her significant contributions to her field, with the experimental physicist generating international attention. Sarah was one of six inspiring women recognised in the Advertiser Sunday Mail SkyCity Woman of the Year Awards. Read more.
