Barr Smith bike shed closure
The Barr Smith bike shed north of the library is closing to make way for a new student space. Alternative bike parking can be found nearby in the Horace Lamb bike shed and between Ingkarni Wardli and Engineering and Maths Sciences. All bikes must be removed by Friday 11 August. Further information.
Unix Shell and Command Line Basics
Command line confidence unlocks computing resources beyond the desktop, including virtual machines and HPC. This training for researchers will help demystify Unix as you get to work running programs and writing scripts on the command line. Tuesday 15 August, 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. Online.
Getting started with HPC using Slurm
High-performance computing allows you to accomplish your analysis faster by using many parallel CPUs and huge amounts of memory simultaneously. This training for researchers provides a hands-on introduction to running your analysis on HPC infrastructure using Slurm. Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 August, 1.30 — 4.30 pm. Online.
AU Sport on campus programs
Have fun, make new friends and relieve stress with AU Sport on-campus weekly social activities such as Talk and Table Tennis every Tuesday, or Finska, badminton and more on Free Play Mondays. Staff can also reach fitness goals with Wellness Wednesday. More information.
University Health Challenge
Join the University Health Challenge and have your steps contribute to the University's online tally for 6 weeks beginning Monday 21 August until Monday 2 October. Registrations close Sunday 20 August.
Executive Dean's message

An aspiration to be the beating heart of Adelaide is part of our university’s strategic plan and there are many ways that we contribute to the vibrant life of the city. The crowds of people and families enjoying the Illuminate Festival installations on our North Terrace campus during the past couple of weeks is evidence of this.
Open Day bump-in
With Open Day bump-in between Friday 1 and Friday 18 August there will be increased noise and activity around the North Terrace campus. Most activity will take place around the Benham, Mawson, Braggs and Molecular Sciences buildings.

Open Day volunteers wanted

Volunteers are required to assist with Open Day on Sunday 13 August. Roles available across the North Terrace campus and the AHMS Building include volunteering in the welcome tent, Maths Lawns Marquee, Q&A sessions and tours. Read more.

Belinda was recognised with a Staff Award in 2022 as a team member for development of the ‘Welcome back festival’, an innovative and engaging program to welcome international students back to campus after the Covid border closures, and support them in their transition to life and study in Adelaide.
