Celebrating our colleagues: Kiri Hagenus

I began my career in early childhood education. In one of my first roles as a teacher, I was posted to a school in Elizabeth which was quite challenging and very disadvantaged, and from that I’ve always had a passion for working with children who need it most.
Uni walking challenge
The Australasian University Health Challenge runs from 21 August to 1 October. The Challenge uses the 10,000 steps online platform to increase your daily amount of steps through small yet significant behavioural changes. Registrations close on Sunday 20 August. More information.
Healthy eating resources
Do you want to improve your nutritional habits and stick to a budget? Access free Health Week resources including 'bite-size' videos, fact sheets, and a recipe book. Consider booking in your team to watch the 25 minute pre-recorded meal planning and budgeting webinar.
Unlimited Qualtrics license
An unlimited survey license to the Qualtrics survey tool is now available for all staff, students, and researchers. When building new surveys, please ensure you're using the new login page and select SSO. Information on migration of existing data will be provided soon. More information.
Festival of Learning and Teaching proposals
The third Festival of Learning and Teaching will be held on Tuesday 31 October with the theme Future-focused Curriculum: Fit for a new University. Staff who teach or support learning are invited to submit a proposal for the program by Wednesday 23 August. More information.

Travel approval and corporate card acquittal
On Wednesday 30 August the University will go live with Pre-Trip Approve, an international travel request tool incorporating online travel diaries and ExpenseMe Pro, the new expense management system for corporate card acquittals. More information, FAQs and training.

Academic Teaching Staff Qualifications
Staff are reminded that the Higher Education Standards Framework requires teaching staff to be qualified to at least one AQF level higher than that being taught or have been assessed, using the HR form, as having equivalent experience to the required AQF level. This is outlined in the University’s Recruitment Policy and Staff Qualifications Procedure.
Hubba Hubba Hummus
Hubba Hubba Hummus, the Schulz building’s ground floor café, is refurbished, complete with new furniture and a grand piano. Hubba Hubba Hummus is open for coffee, breakfast and lunch 7.30 am – 4 pm.
Postgraduate Programs in Engineering
The University is currently undertaking a Review of the Postgraduate Programs in Engineering. Education Quality invites staff to make a confidential submission on matters relevant to the Terms of Reference. Written submissions should be provided to eq@adelaide.edu.au before Wednesday 4 October, 5 pm.
Social Impact Leadership Australia (SILA) program
Kiri Hagenus was recently selected as one of 24 for-purpose CEOs to participate in the 2023 Social Impact Leadership Australia (SILA) program.
