Council on Australia Latin America Relations 2025-2026 grant round

Expressions of interest for the COALAR 2025-2026 grant round are now open, with grants from $10,000 to $50,000 available for projects that will strengthen Australia-Latin America relations. Strategic priority areas are Culture and Entrepreneurship, Education and Research, Environment and Energy Transition, First Nations, and Mining, Mining Equipment, Technology and Services. The University of Adelaide’s final Semester 2 Orientation wrapped up in August, marking three weeks of energy, connection, and campus-wide collaboration. The Main O-Week saw over 1000 commencing students attend program welcomes, connect with their new classmates and enjoy social events.

A new University resource supports educators in adopting generative artificial intelligence in teaching. It includes good practice examples, a categories of learning framework, and guidance on ethical AI use and information security requirements. Further information.

South Australia Young Tall Poppy of the Year

Marine ecologist Dr Nina Wootton (School of Biological Sciences) has been named South Australia’s Young Tall Poppy of the Year. Her research has involved quantifying the amount of plastic and microplastic found in seafood species globally, analysing the potential effects of plastic on seafood species and fisheries, and working with the seafood industry to help develop solutions to this growing plastic problem. September graduations

The September graduation ceremonies will be held between Monday 22 September and Friday 26 September in Bonython Hall. Academic staff are encouraged to register to attend as part of the Academic Procession by Friday 12 September. Staff helpers are also required to assist at the ceremonies and can register here.
