When the borders open

As the opening of some borders and the ability to travel internationally approaches, there’s no doubt that everyone is super keen to get the hell out of here and make the most of our lives again.

A fun thing I love to do, even before the pandemic, was to download the Airbnb app and look for my dream places to stay around the world like I’m a millionaire. And I’m already planning a big trip (in my head, for now).

Some places I’ve already been in Australia

I went to Sydney for my 11th birthday and mum took me to a Harry Potter exhibition and I got picked to be sorted, and of course, I was sorted into GRYFFINDOR! Then again when I was 16, I went with my mum to a Coldplay concert! Highlights of my life! It was Canberra for Year 7 camp then in Year 10, I went with my school to Mimili which is in the middle of Australia, and to Uluru. Best experience ever being with friends, making friends and being away from the city and technology - such a refreshing experience. I’ve been to Queensland many times because my dad's side of the family live there so we try to go every year.

Internationally, I went to England and France in 2011 and 2018 to visit family. The second time was better because I was older and appreciated the culture and architecture a lot more (insert heart eye emoji). In 2019, I went to Auckland, Aotearoa (New Zealand) with my dad for four days… it was the most amazing experience. We went to Hobbiton twice because we couldn’t get enough the first time. But I think even though that’s the only thing we did (the rest of the time we just walked around the city), it really felt like home to me.

10 places I hope to go to soon:

  1. Greece (I’m obsessed with Mamma Mia and would love to island-hop).
  2. New Zealand (again)
  3. England, to meet family
  4. Hawaii
  5. Italy
  6. Japan
  7. Scotland
  8. USA (New Orleans, New York, and LA)
  9. Canada, to visit my brother and I think it will be an amazing place to stay
  10. Switzerland

These are my dream destinations and fingers crossed we all get to travel and live again while also keeping each other safe. It’s good to have goals for the future and something to really look forward to.

So today, right now, you need to download Airbnb and look at all these amazing destinations and places to stay, it might make you a bit sad but if it does, say to yourself, okay, one day I will go there and have the best time ever. So go make your own list now! Where would you go?
