ID Cards

We produce cards for students, staff and associates of the University who are eligible for an identity card.

The University of Adelaide issues identification cards as proof of enrolment.

Your card may entitle you to the following:

  • New students

    Your first card is provided free-of-charge.

    To get an ID card you must submit a request through the online request form. You will receive an email from Ask Adelaide once your ID card is ready to be collected.

    Please note that ID cards will not be available for collection until after 1st February 2021.

    To collect your ID card, you must bring photo identification and have completed your enrolment for the full academic year. Note: if we are unable to verify your identification against the photo submitted, you will be required to purchase a replacement card at your own cost. This is currently $25.

    Student cards are revalidated each year with a sticker to extend the expiry date.

  • Renew ID card expiry date

    The expiry date of each card is located below the photo. Complete your full academic year enrolment before visiting us for a new concession sticker.

    You can collect a new sticker from these locations:

    • Ask Adelaide, Level 3 Hub Central, North Terrace campus
    • Student Services Office, Roseworthy campus

  • Replacement student card

    If your card has been lost or stolen, please report it to Ask Adelaide. 

    If you have changed your name, damaged or lost your card, or want to change your photograph, you can purchase a replacement card ($25).

    • Please select carefully as there are no refunds
    • We are unable to issue a replacement card if you do not have enrolment in the current study period
    • Faulty or defective cards can be brought to Ask Adelaide for assessment
    • Once your request has been placed, your old card will be voided and will no longer work
    • Old cards cannot be re-activated

  • Travel concessions

    If you are a full-time student, your card may entitle you to travel at concessionary fares on public bus, train, and tram services in South Australia. You should carry your card with you at all times as you may be asked to show your card by an authorised person when travelling on a bus, train or tram.

  • Remote students

    If you are a remote student and you don't have any classes on campus, and are unable to visit any of our locations, you can request for your first card to be posted to you.

  • New staff (continuing, fixed-term, titleholder)

    Your first card is provided free-of-charge and is available for collection from the day you are scheduled to commence work. 

    On the day you come and collect your card you must bring photo identification to allow Ask Adelaide staff to verify your details.  

    Drop-in to Ask Adelaide, Level 3 Hub Central, to get your first card. 


    If you are unable to visit our location, you can request for your card to be posted. This is available for off-campus staff only.

    Approved school/faculty/department delegate may submit a request via the ID Card Request Form ($25 charged to department).

Visitor ID cards may be issued to visiting staff, students, or affiliates of the University of Adelaide.

For information regarding your eligibility for a visitor ID card, please contact your faculty, school or department office directly.

Visitor cards incur a fee of $25 to the department. Requests for visitor cards must be submitted by an authorised access control delegate from the relevant area.

  • New visitor cards

    Approved delegates may request departmental visitor cards and/or photo visitor cards via the ID Card Request Form.

    If a new photo is required, the cardholder may visit Ask Adelaide, Level 3 Hub Central to have their photo taken. Alternatively, the department may submit a suitable photograph via email to Ask Adelaide.

    Visitor cards can be collected from Ask Adelaide at Hub Central.

  • Replacement visitor cards

    Issue of a replacement ID card will incur a charge of $25, except in the instance where a card no longer functions due to a genuine fault or has been produced with a clerical error.


    If your card has been lost or stolen, please report it to Ask Adelaide. Replacement ID cards for visitors can be requested through an approved school/faculty/department delegate via the ID Card Request Form ($25 charged to department).

    Or, if you wish to purchase a card yourself, you may request one via our online shop ($25).

    • Once your request has been placed, your old card will be voided and will no longer work
    • Old cards cannot be re-activated

Ask Adelaide can assist with production and replacement of your contractor ID card.

Contractors undertaking approved work on any University of Adelaide campus may be eligible for a contractor ID card.

  • Induction

    Contractors that are eligible for a contractor ID card can only have one produced after they have completed the University’s Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Induction (HSW). HSW Induction sessions are coordinated and managed by Campus Services via an electronic contractor safety induction program.

    At the end of the online induction, contractors will be asked if they already have an existing University identification card or if a new card is required. For contractors completing the induction for the first time University identification cards will be produced following successful completion of the induction.

  • Card collection

    After you have completed your induction, please allow 2 business days before visiting us to have your card made. 

    You can collect your ID card from Ask Adelaide, Level 3 Hub Central, North Terrace Campus. You must bring photo identification.

  • Replacement contractor cards

    • Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO)

      How to get a CSIRO ID card

      To obtain a CSIRO photo ID card, commencing staff members are required to see Christine Harford, CSIRO access control delegate at Waite. Christine will submit a request for an ID Card via the University of Adelaide Online Shop, and email an image of the staff member to Ask Adelaide Card Services. Ask Adelaide will then produce an ID card, and post it to Christine for distribution.

      CSIRO Land & Water

      If a card is lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed, notice must be given to Christine Harford via email chris.harford@csiro.au. If a replacement card is required, then Ask Adelaide must receive a request for a replacement ID Card via the University of Adelaide Online Shop. Ask Adelaide will then process the order and send out a new card via post.

    • Australian Wine Research Institute (AWRI)

      How to get an AWRI ID card

      To obtain an AWRI ID card, the AWRI authorised access control delegate must submit a request for an ID Card for the commencing staff member via the University of Adelaide Online Shop, and email an image of the staff member to Ask Adelaide Card Services. Ask Adelaide will then produce an ID Card, and post it to the AWRI delegate for distribution. 


      Replacement AWRI ID cards

      If a card is lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed, notice must be given to Mark Braybrook or Ken Pocock and Ask Adelaide. If a replacement card is required, then Ask Adelaide must receive a request for a replacement ID Card via the University of Adelaide Online Shop. Ask Adelaide will then process the order and send out a new card via post.

    • South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI)

      How to get a SARDI ID card

      To obtain an SARDI ID card, the SARDI authorised access control delegate must submit a request for an ID Card for the commencing staff member via the University of Adelaide Online Shop, and email an image of the staff member to Ask Adelaide Card Services. Ask Adelaide will then produce an ID Card, and post it to the SARDI delegate for distribution. 


      Replacement SARDI ID cards

      If a card is lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed, notice must be given to the SARDI facilities manager and to Ask Adelaide. If a replacement card is required, then Ask Adelaide must receive a request for a replacement ID Card via the University of Adelaide Online Shop. Ask Adelaide will then process the order and send out a new card via post.

    • Primary Industries Resources for South Australia (PIRSA)

      How to get a PIRSA ID card

      To obtain a PIRSA ID card, the PIRSA authorised access control delegate must submit a request for an ID Card for the commencing staff member via the University of Adelaide Online Shop, and email an image of the staff member to Ask Adelaide Card Services. Ask Adelaide will then produce an ID Card, and post it to the PIRSA delegate for distribution.


      Replacement PIRSA ID cards

      If a card is lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed, notice must be given to Christine Jeyaseelan and to Ask Adelaide. If a replacement card is required, then Ask Adelaide must receive a request for a replacement ID Card via the University of Adelaide Online Shop. Ask Adelaide will then process the order and send out a new card via post.

    • Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS)

      How to get an AIBS ID card

      • To obtain an AIBS ID card, commencing employees are required to submit passport size photos to the institute
      • These photos and the relevant information are forwarded to Ask Adelaide for processing
      • The ID cards are produced and returned to AIBS, via post, for distribution
    • Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources

      How to get a DEWNR ID card

      To obtain a DEWNR ID card, the DEWNR authorised access control delegate must submit a request for an ID Card for the commencing staff member via the University of Adelaide Online Shop, and email an image of the staff member to Ask Adelaide Card Services. Ask Adelaide will then produce an ID Card, and post it to the DEWNR delegate for distribution.


      Replacement DEWNR ID cards

      If a card is lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed, notice must be given to Dennis Gibbons and to Ask Adelaide. If a replacement card is required, then Ask Adelaide must receive a request for a replacement ID Card via the University of Adelaide Online Shop. Ask Adelaide will then process the order and send out a new card via post.

    • Cooperative Research Centre for Viticulture (CRC-Viticulture)

      How to get a CRC-Viticulture card

      To obtain a CRC-Viticulture ID card, the CRC-Viticulture authorised access control delegate must submit a request for an ID Card for the commencing staff member via the University of Adelaide Online Shop, and email an image of the staff member to Ask Adelaide Card Services. Ask Adelaide will then produce an ID Card, and post it to the CRC-Viticulture delegate for distribution.


      Replacement CRC-Viticulture cards

      If a card is lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed, notice must be given to Oksana Dniprowyi and to Ask Adelaide. If a replacement card is required, then Ask Adelaide must receive a request for a replacement ID Card via the University of Adelaide Online Shop. Ask Adelaide will then process the order and send out a new card via post.
