Support Research
Our researchers are passionately invested in tackling the most pressing global challenges of our time.
Support cutting edge research
Gifts to our research programs support the exploration and development of improved treatments and health outcomes, environmental sustainability, cutting-edge artificial intelligence projects, and the arts.
You may wish to consider supporting a broad area of research, for example, cancer research – or there may be a specific research institute you want to support. We welcome the opportunity to work with you to align your gift with the area that resonates most strongly with you.

We take great pride in being South Australia's premier research-intensive University.
Our research underpins innovation across a range of industries critical to our State’s and our community’s future, and in areas that translate to substantial benefits for society. When you give to our research programs, you are having a direct impact on the health, wellbeing, sustainability and prosperity of our local and global communities.
To measure research quality, universities around the world use the Excellence in Research Australia (ERA) rankings. We are proud to share with you that in the most recent ERA ranking, 100% of our assessed research sub-fields were evaluated as being "at or above world standard", including research in engineering, mathematics, science, medical and health sciences, agricultural sciences, artificial intelligence, and the arts.
There are six research institutes within the University, working on issues of local, national and global importance:
Robinson Research Institute
The Robinson Research Institute is a collective of internationally renowned researchers in human reproduction, pregnancy and child health.
Waite Research Institute
The Waite Research Institute was established to support collaboration between Waite Campus partners to drive research that benefits Australia's agriculture, food and wine industries.
Environment Institute
The Environment Institute exists to deliver outstanding research across environmental sciences. Water and climate scientists work together on biodiversity, marine, landscape and genetics research.
Institute for Mineral & Energy Resources
The Institute for Mineral & Energy Resources' (IMER) key fields of research are Earth Sciences, Energy Technology and Resource Engineering. This interdisciplinary research institute is addressing scientific, technological, environmental and social challenges.
Institute for Photonics & Advanced Sensing
The Institute for Photonics & Advanced Sensing (IPAS) brings together experimental physicists, chemists, material scientists, biologists, experimentally driven theoretical scientists and medical researchers to create new sensing and measurement technologies.
Stretton Institute
The Stretton Institute facilitates stronger links between the University of Adelaide’s research strengths and economies by bringing together researchers and experts from across the University to address key policy issues in a multi-disciplinary and multi-method manner.
A gift to a faculty-based research fund is an impactful way to support the research priorities of the University. You are welcome to make a gift to:
Faculty of Arts
The Faculty of Arts conducts innovative and creative research on diverse topics including sustainability, innovative public policy and community growth and engagement.
Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences (ECMS)
The Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences (ECMS) is committed to delivering outstanding research that helps solve complex global problems and contributes to national priorities.
Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences
The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is a world leader in health education and research. We seek to improve health care in Australia and internationally.
Faculty of Professions
Research in Business, Law and Economics undertaken by the Faculty of Professions influences public discussion, debate and policy formation, and explores the ways in which those outcomes affect people locally, nationally and globally.
Faculty of Sciences
Research undertaken by the Faculty of Sciences in agriculture, food and wine; animal and and veterinary sciences; biological sciences; and physical sciences are focused on solving real-world problems and making our world a smarter, safer and more sustainable place.
